How to Create a Cozy Guest Room

March 11, 2019

The Holiday season is just around the corner! Crazy right? It's an exciting time of the year entertaining family and friends. Today I wanted to share  a few of my favorite ways to create a warm and inviting space for your guest.

Choosing the Right Colors for a Calming Space

Colors play an import roll in how a space feels. It can drastically affect the mood and air space. Bringing in warm or relaxing colors can help create that cozy feeling. Unsure of what colors you should use? Click here to learn about which colors create a calming and relaxing environment.

Best Lighting Fixtures

A room's lighting is probably not one of the first things that come to mind when planning a guest room, but it is an important aspect to consider. You'll want to make sure there's enough light in the room for guest to enjoy both day and night. While you may be able to navigate each room of your home with ease at night, your guest will not. This can be accomplished by using nightlights or bedside lights.

The Impact of Luxurious Towels

Another way to prepare your guest room is to stock it with high-quality towels and linens. Consider the worst case scenario: you're traveling and can't get comfortable when you're ready to sleep. Annoying right? While you won't be able to customize the temperature for each of your guests, you can provide them with cozy layers for a restful night. Get some soft bed sheets, a couple of throws, a comforter and a few pillows. Not sure how to make the bed cozy and inviting for your guest? You can download our free guide here!

Benefits of Having a Coffee Bar

Adding a hot chocolate or coffee bar cart is a nice touch and great way to visually warm up your space while also providing your guests with easy access to a hot beverage. If you don't have room for this in the guest room, you can also set it up in your kitchen. If you have an early riser, it makes it easier for them to get their morning cup of coffee without having to wake anyone else.

Create a Memorable Experience

This is where you really get to shine. "Your hostess with the mostess" moment. What is something that would make this stay special? Know their favorite wine? Have it out with a wine glass. Maybe they love to read... have a selection of books or better yet grab an author they love and have it waiting for them. Maybe they love tea, you could add a few of their favorite to the coffee bar. Sweet tooth? Baked goods are always a hit. The point is, find something that is meaningful to them and incorporate it into the space.

The Takeaway

Your ultimate goal is to make your visitors feel at ease and welcome in your home. As a result, you'll want to make your guest suite as relaxing as possible. The key is to declutter and stock it with everything they may need.

XOXO,
Ashley
